How Do I Connect Mini  Speakers to My iPod?

• Rotate the mini speakers downward or outward. This process will vary based on the brand and model of speakers you own, however, the speakers will only rotate one way
• Press the Apple iPod into the docking station with the bottom of the iPod entering first. The front of the iPod should be facing outward, or in the same direction as the speakers. The iPod should be firmly connected to the docking station
• Power on the iPod. The iPod should now play through the speakers. Adjust the volume as needed using the volume up and down buttons on the iPod

How to Build a Mini Speaker

• Use needle nose pliers to detach the speakers from the headband. Only use the standard size headphones that fit over your ears, not the ones that fit into them
• Check to make sure that both speakers will fit into the altoid can. Position the speakers side by side in the can. After checking the fit, remove the speakers from the altoid can
• Make an outline of your speakers on the back of a playing card. Lay your playing card face down. Lay the speakers face down on top of the card. Use a pen to trace the outline of the speakers
• Poke holes through the playing card. Use a safety pin to poke several holes through the speaker outline on your playing card. This will make it easier for sound to travel through. The more holes you make, the better the sound
• Tape the speakers to the playing card. Lay the card face down. Place the speakers face down on top of the card. The speakers should line up with the outline on the playing card. Use duct tape to secure the speakers to the playing card
• Use an awl to make a hole in the back of the altoid can that is big enough for a wire to fit through. The hole should be positioned toward the lower part of the can. Get rid of any debris that may have fallen into the can while making the hole. Make sure that there are no jagged pieces of tin sticking out of or into the altoid can
• Trim the playing card to fit the tin and thread the wire through the hole in the altoid can. Use scissors to trim the sides of the card so it fits in the can snugly. Thread the speaker wire through the hole in the can. As you pull the wire through, push the card and speakers into the can. Plug the headphones in your audio device

Instructions

• Place the left and right front speakers in an equilateral triangle with your viewing seat, closer to the viewing seat than the television is, unless you have no center channel speaker. Toe in (angle) the left and right front speakers up to 30 degrees so that most sound seems to be coming from the television
• If you don't have a center channel speaker, place the front speakers next to the television
• Place the center channel speaker close to the television - on top or in the same cabinet if possible
• Set up the rear speakers behind and to the sides of the viewing seat. Place them higher than the front speakers
