How to Clean Plastic Food Storage Containers:

Well I have a simple solution for you and you will never be embarrassed at the lunch table again. It will even eliminate odors from the containers left too long in the car. You can use this cleaning tip for any type of plastic container including drinking pitchers to eliminate tea and kool-aid stains.- For sandwich size or soup bowl size container......
- Clean storage container with soap and water. Rinse well
- Dry with towel
- Add 1/4 cup baking soda to container
- Add 1 cup luke warm water to container
- Place lid on container and shake until baking soda dissolves. (It is important that all baking soda dissolves.)
- Let set overnight or for at least 8 hours
- Remove lid carefully and empty container of all baking soda and water
- Clean again with soap and water. Rinse well
- Enjoy a cleaner and fresher smelling food container

- Also, buy ones that can be stored with the lid on, and that nest inside each other when not in use. Buying one or two big sets all at once is a smart way to go. This will give you a ton of cupboard space, and it makes lids and bottoms a breeze to find
- In order to keep your foods as fresh as possible for as long as possible, look for plastics with new nano silver technology. These plastics have tiny silver particles in them, and are supposed to help retard food spoilage

- Wash your plastic food storage containers by hand or on the top rack of the dishwasher
- While you're going through all of your plastic ware, you might as well match up lids and bottoms, so you can chuck any singles or damaged ones
- Read the directions for the care of your containers carefully. You want to keep them in good shape so the lids and bottoms will fit together well

04-05-2011- Other Thoughts: My wife got the set for Christmas and I mocked her. How could fruit stay fresh longer? What gimmick did she fall for. Turns out she was right fruit does stay fresh longer, which is why I bought the single 2 cup airtight food storage container.

04-26-2011- Other Thoughts: This is amazing food storage container. We stopped wasting produce completely. It keeps everything fresh for so much longer then just fridge drawers or plastic bags with wet paper towels. I store everything there - berries, tomatoes, eggplants, mushrooms, broccoli.

01-05-2011- Other Thoughts: I really love love these containers! They are great for fresh produce. The little racks in them keep the food elevated so they aren't sitting in their juices rotting so the fruit/veggies stay good a lot longer.
