How to Clean an Electric Tea Kettle:
An electric tea kettle offers a convenient way to brew your favorite batch of tea. After extended use with hard water, however, calcium deposits can build up in the kettle. Luckily, you can quickly clean an electric tea kettle using only vinegar, water and a scouring pad. The vinegar loosens and dissolves the calcium, allowing the scouring pad to wipe away any remaining buildup
Instructions:- Unplug the electric tea kettle from the wall. Failure to do so may result in electric shock. Remove all water from the kettle and allow it to cool to room temperature if it is not already
- Fill the kettle halfway full with warm water. Add ¼ cup of vinegar to the water and mix well using a wooden spoon. Allow the mixture to sit in the kettle for 15 to 20 minutes
- Scrub the sidewalls of the electric tea kettle with a scouring pad to remove any remaining debris. Be careful not to scrub the heating element too roughly, or the outer coating that protects it could become damaged
- Pour the vinegar water out of the electric tea kettle and rinse thoroughly with cool water. Ensure that all calcium chunks are rinsed from the kettle
- Allow the kettle to dry for 10 to 15 minutes. Fill the kettle with water and heat to a rolling boil. Dump the boiling water out; this will help remove any aftertaste from the cleaning
How to Remove Limescale in an Electric Kettle:
Contrary to its name, limescale is actually a build-up of calcium. When hard water containing high levels of calcium is evaporated, the white, chalky limescale will remain. Electric kettles that evaporate hard water on a regular basis will have significantly more limescale accumulation. Luckily, it is easy to remove limescale in an electric kettle using only a few household items
Instructions:- Fill the electric kettle halfway full with one part water and one part white vinegar. The white vinegar will slowly dissolve the limescale from inside the kettle
- Bring the vinegar solution to a rolling boil. Turn the heat off and allow the liquid to sit in the kettle overnight. This will give the mixture enough time to dissolve most of the limescale
- Pour the vinegar water out of the electric kettle. Fill it a quarter of the way full with cool water and swish it around, then pour it back out
- Use steel wool to scrub the inside of the electric kettle. Most of the limescale should come out at this point
- Rinse the electric kettle with cold water to remove the smell of vinegar. If any limescale remains inside, repeat the procedure as necessary

Heats water quickly and shuts off automatically. No more running down the stairs to turn off a whistling kettle.
