How to Filter a Glass Teapot
Glass teapots allow you to observe the beauty and color of the tea leaves as they open up and infuse the water. Many transparent teapots include a glass or metal filter--sometimes called an infuser- that sits inside the teapot under the lid. Tea leaves are placed inside the filter before you add boiling water. When the tea is brewed to your satisfaction, the filter is removed, leaving the tea inside the pot free of leaf residue. You can also put the tea into the glass teapot without a filter, then strain it as you pour.- Place tea leaves in the filter--or, if you choose, spoon the leaves into the bottom of the glass teapot. TeaSource.com says a good guideline is one rounded teaspoon of tea per 8 oz. of water. Place the filter (if you're using one) into the teapot.
- Pour hot water from a tea kettle over the leaves, filling the glass teapot. Filtered water is recommended but not necessary, and taste varies from one individual to another. Return the lid to the pot and allow the tea to steep. Different tea varieties require different times to steep, and there is wide disagreement even among tea specialists. As a rule, the lighter the tea, the longer the steeping time, but using a somewhat lower water temperature. Plan a steeping time of two minutes for black teas, three for green teas and four to five minutes for white teas.
- Remove the lid when the tea has brewed to your desired strength. If you used a filter, lift it out of the tea while holding a paper or cloth towel underneath it to prevent drips or spattering.
- Pour the tea through a small metal strainer into the cups as you serve it if you brewed the tea in the bottom of the pot without a filter or tea, Otherwise, simply serve the tea from your glass teapot.

03-23-2011- Other Thoughts: This very esthetic tea pot is the nicest vessel I have ever used. Of course, I also love very fine and old porcelaine teapots, but seeing your tea in the pot, especially if you use loose tea leaves, is just an added visual pleasure.

03-16-2011- Other Thoughts: Brewing tea with this pot is perfect every time - never bitter or weak. I like to brew a large pot and store it in a thermos to sip thru out the day. This pot makes just the amount to fill that termos -- it's perfect.
