Size in Detail:

How to Remove a Toilet Plunger Dent
When you use a plastic toilet plunger to take care of a clog in your toilet, the plunger itself can sometimes indent during the plunging process. The accordion-style plunger quickly displays this dent, and you want to figure out a way to get the dent back out of the plunger so you can continue to use it. The plunger has accumulated dirt and bacteria during its use, so you want to handle the plunger properly
- Try plunging the toilet two to three times vigorously. Often the accordion-style indentations pop back out as you plunge
- Place a pair of rubber gloves on your hands, and let the plunger air dry if possible as this creates less mess
- Hold the plunger over the toilet and stick your hand inside the plunger. Attempt to push the dent out with your fingers
- Use a popsicle stick or similar tool if the dent is too far inside the plunger, as often the plunger opening is too small to fit your hand inside. Push the dent out with your popsicle stick
Tips & Warnings
- Be sure to flush the toilet afterwards to clear the pipe and to ensure it is refilling and emptying properly
- If you are not getting enough water in to flush your toilet afterward, you can add a bucket of water
- Toilet plungers are found wherever sink plungers are sold (no specialty shop needed)
- If you don't get any reaction, your next options may include a toilet snake (again, particular to toilet use so as to not scratch the toilet bowl), an industrial wet-dry vac, or a plumber
- Do not do this with a full bowl, except at the slowest speed, so that it does not overflow. It is recommended that you empty a full bowl by filling a bucket (NOT your bathtub or sink)
- Most toilet plunging may not require this proper technique to work - the proper plunger can make all the difference. But when that is not enough, try this technique before buying a toilet snake or hiring a professional
- The plunger is your first line of action and the cheapest, so be sure you're using the proper technique before spending more money

12-04-2010- Other Thoughts: I think this is a good quality product and lightweight. It's nice being able to keep the brush and plunger together. If you want to put it against the wall, you have to put the open side facing outwards from the wall.

12-18-2010- Other Thoughts: We purchased our first one and then could not find it again here...so we are now ordering a second one via the internet. The cleaning brush works great, nice long handle, very sturdy, and comes with a replacement handle.

12-14-2010- Other Thoughts: I bought one a while ago, liked it so much, but two more for our other bathrooms. It is so nice to have the brush & plunger accessible, yet hid in a stylish setting. It's a 'dressy' way to display what's needed, especially if guests are over & would need to use a plunger.
