How to Place a Toilet Tissue Holder:
- Map out the areas of the bathroom within easy reach of the toilet. Determine which walls are occupied and which walls are vacant
- Plan to install the toilet paper holder on the wall to the right or left of the toilet if both the walls are available. Intend to install the toilet tissue holder on the right side for a family or house of roommates who are primarily right-handed, or on the left wall if a left-handed person will primarily use the bathroom
- Utilize any available wall, including the one in front of the toilet, in case the left or right wall cannot be used because they are blocked by a shower, heating vent, sink, or other bathroom appliance. Make sure the toilet paper holder can be easily reached
- Determine the height of the toilet tissue holder by sitting on the toilet and reaching out for an imaginary roll of toilet paper, then place a mark with a pencil at that height
- Screw the toilet paper holder into a stud in the wall, using the pencil mark from Step 4 as a reference point; securing the holder to the stud prevents it from falling. Find a wall stud with an electronic stud finder or tap the wall and listen for hollow areas or dense areas
- Use hollow-wall anchors instead of regular drywall screws if the toilet paper holder cannot be installed into a stud. Drill a hole the same size as the anchor, insert the anchor, and then put in the screw
How to Install a Toilet Paper Holder:
- Purchase a toilet paper holder. You can get these at your local hardware store, and they generally come with any mounting hardware you'll need
- Unpack the holder and find the mounting bracket. Put the mounting bracket against the wall where you want to install the holder, and make pencil marks through it where the screw holes appear
- Drill through the pencil marks, making sure the drill bit you use is slightly smaller than the wall anchors that come with the toilet paper holder
- Push the wall anchors that come with the toilet paper holder into the wall. If you need to, very lightly tap these into place with a hammer
- Mount the mounting bracket using the included screws and your screwdriver. Tighten these as much as possible to secure the hold
- Slide your toilet paper holder onto the mounting bracket. Secure it into place, using the tiny screw that usually appears on the underside of the holder itself
How to Crochet a Toilet Paper Holder:
- Make a chain of 3 stitches. Make a slip stitch to form a ring
- Make a chain of 3 stitches, which counts for 1 double crochet. Make 8 double crochets in the ring for a total of 9 stitches
- Crochet a chain of 3 stitches and make 1 double crochet in the same space. Make 2 double crochets in each stitch around the circle for a total of 18 stitches. Slip stitch to end the row
- Make a chain 3 with 1 double crochet in the first stitch. Chain one. Make 2 double crochets in the next stitch. Chain one with 2 double crochets in each stitch around the circle for a total of 18 sets of double crochets and 18 chain spaces. Slip stitch to end the row
- Make a 3-stitch chain. Make a double crochet in each double crochet and space stitch around the circle
- Make a chain of 2 stitches. Single crochet in each stitch around the circle. Continue making rows of single crochets to create the sides until it is 4 1/4 to 4 1/2 inches, the height of a roll of toilet paper
- Slip stitch in each single crochet for the rim of the holder. Make a chain stitch at the end of the row. Do not cut the yarn
- Crochet a chain that is 12 to 15 inches long and secure it to the opposite side of the toilet paper holder rim with a slip stitch. Cut the end of the yarn at a 2-inch length. Weave the end into the holder rim to hide it
