How to Evaluate Dog Carriers:
A dog carrier, also known as a crate or cage, provides a safe and secure place for your dog while traveling or to keep your dog in while you are not home. Whatever your need for a dog carrier is, there are many factors to consider when purchasing a dog carrier or crate. Dog carriers can be expensive, depending on the size as well as the material they are made from, so you don't want to purchase the wrong one. You know your dog's temperament the best so keep that in mind while evaluating a carrier.- Examine the material the carrier is made of. Carriers come in plastic, wire mesh, metal and soft cloth. If your dog is a chewer, you may be more inclined to purchase a carrier that is made of metal or plastic rather than soft cloth or mesh. If your dog handles situations better when it cannot see its surroundings, a solid plastic carrier or a solid cloth material may work best. Plastic and metal carriers are easier to clean because you can just wipe them down. A carrier made of fabric may need to be washed with soap or rinsed off with a hose if it is soiled
- Consider the size of your dog. Carriers come in all different shapes and sizes. If you have a Great Dane, it would not be comfortable in a crate made to fit a Golden Retriever. Most carriers, if purchased new, will list the height and weight of the dog that would be appropriate for the carrier. Carriers can also be too big for a dog; a Chihuahua may not be happy in a carrier designed for a Labrador. It is usually recommended that the carrier be big enough that the dog will have enough space to stand up straight and to be able to turn around without difficulty
- Decide what the carrier will be used for most. If you will be bringing the dog places with you, a lightweight carrier is best. If the carrier will be set up at home and never moved, you may like a more heavy-duty carrier. If the carrier is going to be used while flying, you may need to use a solid plastic crate with a wire door, depending on the airline's regulations. If you have a small dog, you may want a carrier that looks more like a handbag so you can bring your dog places with you

09-29-2011- Other Thoughts: Not small pet dog carrier. It is comfortable to carry by hand. The other side has a half opening to either give them a treat or let their head stick out. For my Shih Tzu, she tries to get out through the half opening. I think she could get out as she is small enough.

08-29-2011- Other Thoughts: Thank you for the Pet Carrier. It was a great price and arrived in record time! My Mini Dashound, Patches, was very comfortable on her flight and well protected. She is quite the character though. We both fell asleep, so I thought, and I was awoken by the Flight Attendant holding her telling me she was entertaining the passengers as she had gotten out. It was very funny, as she is a little sweetie. I know now how to properly secure the zippers. Thank you again.

09-21-2011- Other Thoughts: The dog carrier was perfect. I love that the zippers have a way of locking so they don't become accidentally unzipped. Between lay-away time and delays, we ended up at the airport for about 16 hours. This pet dog carrier became a sort of den, and she asked to go in it when she was tired. She even chose to stay inside with her chewtoys with the bag's door open. The carrier itself fit perfectly under the airplane's seat. I loved that I was able to check on her through one of the openings. While the bag was not extremely comfortable for me to carry about, I don't think ot was designed to be used for 16 straight hours, either. I'll miss it once the puppy outgrows it, and would definitely recommend it, especially for this price.

09-02-2011- Other Thoughts: I purchased this product to bring my cat to Florida. It fit perfectly under the seat of the airplane without having it cave in. The carrier is sturdy and had plenty room for my 13 lb cat. The vents are positioned so the animal can see and remain comfortable at the same time. I especially liked the zippered opening on the top that you can put your hand in to comfort the animal without them being able to get out. I would definitely recommend this carrier for traveling with a small to medium cat or small dog.

07-27-2011- Other Thoughts: I use the Bergan Comfort Carrier Soft-Sided Pet Carrier to haul my dead, stuffed, hamster when I fly. Using this product, I am allowed to transport my beloved hamster legally without any problems. I possess licensed taxidermist documents and I just board the plane.
