How to Choose an Educational Toy:
- Choose an educational toy that is appropriate for your child's age. Children of different ages are at different stages of developing and learning
- Infants and toddlers enjoy toys that vary in color and shapes. These type of toys allow children to develop distinguishing abilities between different colors, varying shapes and sizes
- Children ages one to four enjoy toys that challenge their abilities to recognize pictures, symbols and relationships. Such toys are puzzles, ABC blocks and sticker books
- Children ages five to seven enjoy toys that build upon the development and skills they have learned so far. Simple games, interactive toys, crafts, building blocks, bouncing balls and Frisbees suit this age group
- Children ages eight to twelve are well on their way to developing into adults and can tackle many tasks that most adults do. Toys such as experimental kits, model kits, science and art kits as well as kites suit this age group
- Children ages thirteen and above require more advanced toys that continually challenge their growing minds. Complex games like chess, electric airplanes, dissection kits and books better suit this age group
- Purchase toys of good quality materials. Educational toys must last throughout the child's current developmental stage. Young children and toddlers don't know how to handle fragile or delicate toys, so the sturdier the better. A few extra dollars is well worth the added years your child can spend learning from his toys
- Select educational toys that teach your child things you want them to know. Lessons that you'd like your child to learn while playing can be found in many educational toys. A chemistry set is educational and fun to experiment with, but it also teaches children to be patient and creative as well as to enjoy learning

06-24-2011- Other Thoughts: We received this toy when my first child was only 18 months, and I had a newborn at home as well. Two + years later this toy is still played with every day by both my almost 4 yr old and my [...]. They learned colors, spatial, and these work really well with a set of wooden blocks too. I would highly recommend this toy for many years of play!!

06-15-2011- Other Thoughts: We bought this for our daughters 1st birthday and were amazed to see how easily she played with this toy. We love the fact that is is so versatile, we can create new "looks" for her to find each morning. Colors are great, environmentally friendly. Love this company and their concepts.

06-04-2011- Other Thoughts: Very durable solid wood, very nice, bright paint. My one yr old loves taking it apart and carrying the inside piece around the house-"oh there it is in the laundry basket". He plays with it every day and is a huge hit when we have play dates. Highly recomended!!

05-18-2011- Other Thoughts: I bought this toy during a sale months ago but followed the box and held off on giving it to our daughter until she turned two. Now that she is playing with it I am regretting not giving it to her at least ten months ago. I would not hesitate to give this toy to a one year old. Our daughter had it figured out in a day but continues to creatively play with it. Sometimes she makes a mistake but she problem solves and fixes it. And this is such an elegant looking toy as well. I actually love looking at it!

05-04-2011- Other Thoughts: I was looking to buy my son a typical ring stacker but saw this in my searching and got it instead. I'm so glad we did because it's the best toy we own. I bought it when my son was 12 months old and it's been his favorite toy for the last 3 months. I thought it would be too advanced for him but he figured it out right away. And then he started trying to put it together in different ways. He is fascinated by trying to put the pieces on in different orders or seeing if he can put them on upside down.

04-25-2011- Other Thoughts: The toy itself is very attractive looking and very sturdy. It's solid wood but the pieces aren't too heavy for a young child to manipulate. The pieces are stained and not painted so I don't worry about my son chewing on any of the pieces. I can't say enough good things about this toy. It's simple but wonderful.

04-18-2011- Other Thoughts: This hammer draws his attention and holds it for much longer than his basic ones. This toy will be excellent for teaching colors, size differences, and spatial relationships. And when we don't want to take it that seriously, the tubes are great for rolling on hardwood floors. This cone stacker provides a unique challenge that no other toy we've found offers!
