- Other Thoughts: I've owned this fan for several years now and it still works like new. <br/> <br/>No, it won't create a breeze you can feel in a room or outdoors. <br/> <br/>Yes, it's perfect for close-up cooling, such as on a desk and, for me, in a greenhouse or terrarium. Use the lights in the greenhouse or terrarium to power the fan and you don't have to raise your energy bill for ventilation. <br/> <br/>The fan is silent when operating, which is another plus, and the breeze is gentle enough for plants or, say, reptiles in the terrarium.

- Other Thoughts: Does work, in direct, even oblique light. Turns slowly on a bright day even when not directly illuminated. Very effective as the fan, though turning well has no shroud so most of the air in it is just stirred inside the unit rather than ejected.

- Other Thoughts: Granted, these things aren't going to cool a room, but if you need just a little free breeze --- like I do in my little greenhouse --- these things are ideal.

- Other Thoughts: The fan works under direct sunshine only. And it's so weak that you can't feel anything. I think the CFM is about only 1 or 2. You can use it to draw hot air out of even in a restroom.

- Other Thoughts: I use this fan in our large eastern window to circulate heat into the house in the winter. I am sure it has paid for itself in what we save on our heating bill. After a cold winter night it sure is nice to feel the heat from the morning sun circulate though the house. Of course the best part is it goes on and off by itself and knows exactly when to start working and when to stop.
