How to Select Thomas the Train Toys?
When Rev. Awdry told a story about a train, he had no idea what it would lead to. He was just trying to entertain his son who was ill with measles. He was soon persuaded to write the stories down and then compile them into a book for publication. Thomas the train became a popular TV show for children, spawning many products based on the characters.Instructions:
- Visit the official Thomas and Friends website to learn more about the characters if you are unfamiliar with the show (see Resources below). This may help you select the perfect toy for a young fan.
- Click "About Thomas and Friends" on the left side of the home page then click on "Engine Depot."
- Click through the names on the list of Thomas's friends to see their pictures. Click "About" to learn a little about them.
- Click "Hit Shop" on the right side of the home page. This will take you to Hitshop.com, an online retailer of Thomas and friends toys (see Resources below).
- Look for Thomas and Friends toys. The available toys are Thomas, James and Percy. The trains are all 9 inches lengthwise.
- Look for Thomas, a blue train with a short black funnel and six wheels. He is labeled with the number "1."
- Check for James, a red train labeled with the number "5." James has eight wheels.
- Select Percy, a green train with four wheels labeled with the number "6."
- Collect all three trains and save if you select the bundle pack.
- Compare prices with other online retailers, like Amazon (see Resources below). You may find private sellers of Thomas the Train toys through Amazon.
- Make your purchase at a neighborhood retailer if you prefer to pay in person and receive your items immediately. Search local retailers and toy stores for Thomas the train toys.

04-28-2011- Other Thoughts: Seller COMPLETELY redeemed himself by sending item overnight when slight flaw in the system failed to have the item arrive on time. He did everything to benefit me, the customer, without question or hassle. I would hands-down use him again and highly recommend this seller. What could have been a complete disaster turned out to be an overall great experience! Thanks again!!!!

05-30-2011- Other Thoughts: We gave this to our kids for Christmas, both my 2 and a half year old and my one year old love to play with it. They shapes stack in many ways, great fine motor skills. We also use it for shape and color recognition for my older child.... Love the more classic toys, rather than the junk that is in many stores these days.

04-14-2011- Other Thoughts: We recently purchased this toy for our 18 month old son. All in all, we like the toy. Colors are nice, our son loves to rearrange the blocks and loves that it's a train. My only complaint is that it is NOT very durable. After playing with it just a few times three of the wooden pegs have completely come out of the train. It's an easy fix - just a little wood glue. But I expect better quality from Melissa and Doug. Overall, I would recommend this toy, just be prepared to do some repairs.

04-28-2011- Other Thoughts: He loves playing with this and the stacking is great for his fine motor skills (and coarse motor as he throws it across the room!). Blocks can be stacked different ways. he's worked out the trains only fit together one way. The blue pegs have come off a few times (during coarse motor skill development!) but easily glued back in with some PVA.

05-26-2011- Other Thoughts: i bought this for two different 2-year olds. I think the quality is good, and I like that it is more than just a wooden train because you can stack the pieces on it.
