How to Install a Car Power Inverter:

- Park the vehicle and open the hood. Disconnect the battery by loosening the positive cable with a wrench and pulling it free with your hand
- Mount the power inverter. Pick a location which will allow plenty of air flow around the inverter as they heat up when used. A typical mounting location is on the lower kick panel in the passenger side of the vehicle under the dash
- Wire the inverter. Run a length of wire from the positive side of the inverter to the car's battery by running the wire through a grommet in the firewall
- Connect the wires. Connect the new positive and negative wires to the wires coming from the inverter to the wires you installed into the vehicle by placing terminal ends on the wires and crimping them in place in the same manner as the positive wire at the battery

05-25-2011- Other Thoughts: This product does exactly what was stated on the literature. I used it on a trip to power a theraputic cold water pump in the car and everything worked per specification. A second power cord (besides the standard vehicle power point design) based on direct battery connection via clamps was also provided and I consider this a bonus to be used if a battery is not installed in a vehicle.

04-26-2011- Other Thoughts: My main worry for this product before I bought it was the many reviews that it did not power their laptops, I bought this mainly for that purpose. I have a 65W dell laptop and it powered it up without problems. I tried playing movies and everything and it maintained charging state. Worries put to rest. Pretty good product in my option. Slim so very easy to store, and becomes warm to the touch when in use but not hot.

Edit: (Jan 5, 2011). Took this product on a 10 day road trip. Used it for hours with no problems encountered. One thing I noticed, sometimes when I hit the brakes, the unit will for a split second toggle to red (no charge) and back to blue (charge). It happened on a rental van I was driving but not on our CRV.

04-05-2011- Other Thoughts: I haven't used too many power inverters, but I'm surprised at how incredibly small, light and generally unintrusive this unit is.

Bought it in time for our 10-day Christmas-to-New Year's road trip. We spent a good deal of time driving and had a GPS and either a smartphone or laptop hooked up to it most of the time ... worked just fine.

Con: the cable from the lighter jack to the unit is not too long, so depending on the placement of things in your car you might not be able to find a good place to put the unit itself. It worked fine in our car (Infiniti G20) and my parents' car (Ford Explorer), though.

Another thing: the advertised power (175W) is actually peak power ... continuous power is more like 130W. If you draw 175W for an extended period of time it might overheat (haven't tried it myself).

03-30-2011- Other Thoughts: Worked great on my 8 hour drive to Disneyland, used it to play the Sims 3 on a DV6700 on high performance. Never cutout or got hot and even charged my cousins Android and my iPod Touch 3G simultaneously. Well worth the price.

03-16-2011- Other Thoughts: Product works like a charm. Small enough to fit comfortably without having a large obnoxious item on your console. This is the perfect tool for storing in your glove box or even arm rest. Well designed. Works well.

02-21-2011- Other Thoughts: i've bought 3 of these car chargers so far. i bought one for my son in law who used it when he drove cross country--he loved it. came in handy when he wanted to charge his phone before he camped out for the night and would have no power. i read a lot of reviews before deciding on this one. it's small yet powers a computer and phone. i love it and would recommend it.
