How to Build a Portable Small Voice Amplifier:

    Mini Amplifie

Having a portable voice amplifier means you can perform your songs anywhere, without worrying about power supplies. Typical microphones have an XLR connection. This is a three-pin socket that connects the microphone to the cable and the cable to the jack. Any amp with an XLR jack can be used for voice. Making your own portable voice amplifier enables you to save money on a piece of custom sound equipment. Typical amplifier parts come with a wiring schematic, which illustrates the layout of the circuit and the chassis-mount components.

    • Drill one 1/4-inch hole in the right side of the speaker chassis. This is where the jack will be mounted.
    • Use a router to make a 2-inch hole on the front of the amplifier chassis.
    • Screw the speaker into the front of the chassis so the opening of the cone sits flush against the 2-inch hole.
    • Fit the board-mount components into the blank circuit board. Push each component into the correct turret. Typically, blank circuit boards have predrilled turrets so that only the correct component can fit into the turret. Push each component down hard enough to drive the connector pins through to the base. The potentiometers will stand taller than the other components. The tops of the potentiometers will poke through the chassis when the board is mounted.
    • Flip the board over and gently press each connector pin flat against the brass conductor strip on the base of the board.
    • The conductor strips connect the circuit.
    • Screw the circuit board to the base of the chassis using the standard circuit board screws. Measure the distance between the potentiometer tops and the edges of the chassis. Note down the measurements.
    • Mount the XLR jack in the hole. Fasten the supplied washer to the outside of the chassis to hold it in place. The XLR jack is where you connect the microphone.
    • Cut two pieces of power wire, each 1 inch long. Put the chassis top and base side-by-side so you can wire the board to the speaker.
    • Solder one piece of power wire to the output terminal on the inside of the XLR jack.
    • Solder a power wire to the circuit board eyelet directly to the right of the output transformer. Solder the other end to the input terminal on the back of the speaker.
    • Solder the red wire connected to the 9-volt battery snap to the positive eyelet on the circuit board. Solder the black wire to the negative eyelet next to it.
    • Fit a 9-volt battery to the snap.
    • Plot a hole on the top of the chassis, in line with where the potentiometers will protrude. Use a 1/8-inch drill bit to bore a hole for each potentiometer top.
    • Line up the top of the chassis to the potentiometers poke through the holes. Screw the base of the chassis to the top of the chassis. Fit the dials to the tops of the potentiometers

What Are the Different Kinds of Amps?

Loxue Portable Charge Wireless Waistband Tour Teacher Voice Amplifier Microphone Speaker YB-9968R

Electronic amplifiers use a power supply to raise the amplitude and power of an audio signal. Many are used simply to be able to control the amount of power that moves through the output. Amps are very important tools in live music performance because they increase the volume of the music so that it can reach large audiences.

    • The first amps were used to add power to music played in large concert halls. These amps were massive high-output power amplifiers. Vocalists most often used public address systems so amps were used for the remaining instruments. The first large, heavy tube amps used 8 10-inch speakers. Super Valve Technology was a popular manufacturer amongst rock bands. Amps in the 1980s used horn-loaded bass bins while amps in the 1990s and the new millennium began using subwoofers

    • Many different types of amps are used today. Traditional amps tend to recreate the classic sounds of the old electric guitar players. These are often desired by blues players and pedal steel guitar players. Jazz guitar players tend to use jazz chorus amps that have reverb, distortion and chorus effects. Hard rock and heavy metal guitarists use amps that provide lots of distortion and are built for intensity. Bass amplifiers are built to enhance the overall bass response and tone of bass instruments. Keyboard amps are well rounded to suit the wide frequency range of electronic synthesizers and electronic pianos. Acoustic amplifiers are perfect for classical instruments because they were created for quiet and intimate performances. Marshall Amplifiers is a brand that is very popular for loud and heavy guitar music

    • Most amplifiers have special features meant to enhance performance and sound quality. Expensive high-end amplifiers have compressors or limiters that allow the amps to maintain high energy and high volume without compromising the integrity of the sound. Some bass amps have XLR DI outputs for connecting the bass signals into the mix and public address systems. Large amps often have fans or external metal heat sinks to maintain safe temperatures

    • Instrument amplifiers come in varying sizes. Virtually all of these devices use either tube technology or transistor technology. Tube amplifiers use thermionic emission technology that tends to be quite large and heavy. Solid state amplifiers use more technologically advanced semiconductor transistors and the result is much smaller and lighter product

    • While amps are capable of creating very loud sounds, be sure to check the capabilities of the speakers being used. It is quite common for amps to blow out speakers that aren't suited for creating such loud sounds. Amps also have a relatively short lifespan when compared to musical instruments. However, top of the line models have been known to last up to ten years at peak performance

This amp has been great for saving my voice
00:00:00 06-16-2011
I bought this amp to use in the classroom about two years ago. I teach elementary general music and chorus classes, so I use my voice all day and all week. This amp has been great for saving my voice and keeping my kids attention. I've also used it for professional workshop demonstrations in large spaces so people could hear me better, even though the room wasn't great acoustically.

Purchasing this voice amplification system has SAVED my voice!
00:00:00 05-26-2011
I teach middle school and I sing on the weekends for weddings and church services. Needless to say, my voice never gets much rest. Purchasing this voice amplification system has SAVED my voice! I no longer have to use a loud volume when teaching my classes during the week. I can use the system to speak in a much more calm voice with lower volume so I'm not stressing out my vocal chords. It's made a big difference already in just the first week of using it!

The lapel mike works poorly as a previous review has mentioned but with the Voice Amplifier in place, I can talk and talk and talk!
00:00:00 03-31-2011
I was very satisfied with the product and it has certainly saved my vocal chords a lot of work. I lecture labs and once the activities start, the students make a reasonable amount of noise and now with this amplifier I can give instructions in little more than a whisper. The lapel mike works poorly as a previous review has mentioned but with the Voice Amplifier in place, I can talk and talk and talk!

It has saved my career.
00:00:00 02-16-2011
I'm a 61 year old high school teacher. I have always had problems losing my voice maybe once a year, but last spring it had become every couple of months. I thought of retiring early or even asking about getting disability. But at the beginning of this school year I bought the Voice Amplifier. I have not lost my voice since buying this gadget, and I don't even get raspy. It has saved my career.

it is also a portable amplifier.
00:00:00 01-20-2011
The product was exactly what I needed. I use my voice amplifier when I am teaching water classes. I have seen a similar amplifier that was much more expensive. This voice amplifier is just what I needed especially for the price. This mini amplifier is quite portable! So it is also a portable amplifier.
