How to Install a New Cigarette Lighter in a Car:

• Place the key to your vehicle in the ignition and power on the vehicle. You do not need to start up the ignition, but at least turn the key far enough to start up your radio and power up the windows
• Place an electrical device that uses the lighter charger into the charger to make sure it still works properly. It is possible to accidentally blow out the charger if you have extracted too much power from it at one give point

• This is a good charger and charger ports make it even more useful.Included velcro pad turned out to be useless. I attached it to the side of center stack and charger fell off next day.

• I'm also impressed that they put an extra fuse on the inside of the device in case someone tries to put a bigger fuse into the thing to get more power.
  
  Looks like a very well constructed product for the price.
  
  As my review title explains, this will power the latest generations of iPod via the USB port. I successfully tried both a synching cable and a "charging only" cable.
