How to Choose a Power Adapter for a Laptop

Instructions:

• Check the laptop's model number. Use the search engine on a power adapter vendor's website to search for a compatible power adapter by your laptop's model number (see Resources).
• Locate the power specifications of your laptop--usually printed on the bottom or near the laptop's power port. Locate the amperage (AMPs) and voltage (V) rating of your laptop on the power specifications list
• Match your laptop's power rating with that of the aftermarket power adapter. The voltage of the power adapter must match the voltage of the aftermarket adapter. The amp rating of the aftermarket adapter must meet or exceed the requirements of your laptop.
• Select a power adapter tip from the aftermarket power adapter's kit. This fits firmly into your laptop's power port. The selected tip should not fit too loosely or need excessive force to fit the laptop's power port.

Tips & Warnings:

• If you have to pay the extra money for a universal kit as opposed to a replacement adapter, try selecting one with extras--like car adapters and European plug-ins. The cost may be a little more for the extras, but having to pay for two separate adapter kits as opposed to a bundled kit can be more expensive in the long run.
• The power rating of your laptop and your adapter is the most important factor--they must be compatible. Selecting a power adapter solely on the basis of its fitting your laptop can lead to damage of both the laptop and the adapter.

• I had look everywere for this adapter, and everyone wanted much more money. So when I took a chance online, and found the product I needed, and to see how much less it was I purchase it right away, and you can't beat the convenience of it being sented right to your home. • Well, the price was right, it keeps my laptop charged, and I'm pretty sure it came with a one year warranty. I was actually surprised it worked at all. It's really lightweight and cheap.

• This power adapter works. That is the important thing. With that being said, the cord is a bit shorter than I would like. The transformer gets pretty hot as well. Although that doesn't affect the function of the power adapter, it makes me a little nervous.

• The wire is way too short than the original wire that comes with the Laptop. The cost was cheap enough but would have liked to have gotten a cord that I didnt need an extension cord for.

• I have a Laptop. If you have the message (plugged in, not charging) the problem could be the charger and not the battery like I first thought. I got this new charger and it works! And so cheap.

• My old power supply had a short and would just stop working at random. This product arrived in good condition and was what I needed. It looks almost exactly the original. It seems to be a shorter, but that's not the seller's fault. Very happy with my purchase from this seller.
