How to Connect the Original XBox Controller to a PC?

• If you have a game controller from the original Xbox video game system, you can modify it to work as a PC game controller. This is a great way to recycle an old Xbox component and to enhance your PC gaming experience for much less than you would pay to buy a new PC game controller with comparable features.

Instructions:

• Chop off the male adapter from the USB cable about five inches from the base of the adapter. Discard the rest of the cable.
• Chop off the Xbox game controller cable right before the adaptor that connects it to the Xbox (i.e., not at the end where it connects to the controller).
• Strip the casing off the exposed ends of both the USB and Xbox controller cables using the wire strippers. Expose about an inch of the inner colored wires in both cables. You will see that the colors of the inner wires match between the two cables.
• Connect each exposed wire in the Xbox cable to its counterpart with the same color in the USB cable. Expose the metal of each wire and twist the metal ends of the two wires around one another at least three times. You can solder the twisted ends for a more secure connection. There will be an unmatched yellow wire in the Xbox cable; ignore it.
• Wrap electrical tape over each exposed connection to insulate it and prevent cross-connections among the wires.
• Connect your modified Xbox controller to your PC by inserting its new USB adapter into a USB port on the PC.
• Download and install the appropriate software drivers to enable your Xbox controller to connect to your PC games.

• If you've got an Xbox 360, you need controllers. This spartan model if pefect for Halo fans of all ages. Todd McFarlane did the artwork for this controller. The picture won't soon rub off onto your hands, and it's a great conversation piece amongst your plain colored controllers. The layout of the buttons on the Xbox 360 is amazing. It's perfect for many of the games that are on the 360. The rumble is effective, and the wireless capacity is wonderful. The only beef I have, is that I've had two controllers that become loose on the left analog stick, and they began to drag the cursor when not touched. The Xbox Warranty I had from the console replaced them free of charge. Luckily I had extra controllers to get me by in the week it took to replace it.
  
  When matched with the rechargable battery pack, they give you lots of gaming time between charges.

Took the item I ordered a little longer than I would have liked to shipped, but that was because it was over-ordered because of a price mistake, coupled with the fact that their online inventory is not live with their warehouse. • This is the best gaming controller ever invented, by far! First off right out of the gate its cordless. Add in the long life of the batteries and its already almost perfect. But that wasn't enough. This thing turns on/off the 360! Its got the rumble pack and its got a good feel to it. Of course lots of folks say they cost a lot, but I say its an investment. I've had mine since the 360 came out and no problems so far. Totally worth the $$. Besides the games cost more than the controller does and you buy games all the time right? The only reason i've found to buy more of these is so my friends can play with me!!

• Wireless controllers for my game console (X Box 360) have become a priority for me! It's so much more convenient than having the wires run across the floor. It's also great because I have a small dog (Chihuahua mix) who loves to chew on everything! If my boyfriend forgets to put the controller away, i don't have to worry about the dog being able to chew the wires. It's a complete hazard having the cords laying around. The only problem we have had, is forgetting to recharge the controllers. It's very rare they need charging, but if you don't charge them and the battery dies, it will shut off in the middle of a game. Another thing I love about the controllers, is that they can actually turn on the system! This happens, by pushing the XBox 360 button in the middle of the handles. I definitely suggest spending the extra money on wireless controllers, if you own the system! It's a great addition!
