How to Solve Metal Ring Puzzles?

Metal ring puzzles are problems that are sometimes advertised as "intelligence tests." A metal ring puzzle is basically nothing more than two or more metal pieces that are connected. The point of the puzzle is to dislodge the pieces. Depending on the difficulty of the metal ring puzzle, attempting to solve one of these puzzles can make you feel quite frustrated. By remaining calm and taking things slowly, however, you can eventually learn to solve metal ring puzzles with ease.

• Pick up the metal ring puzzle by the two opposite ends of the puzzle. Inspect the entire puzzle.
• Hold the two ends of the metal ring puzzle and spin the entire puzzle around to look for any openings. You may notice any spots where you can dislodge the two pieces of the puzzle. If you don't see any right away, flip the pieces to the opposite side. This can make the puzzle clearer for you.
• Slowly turn the bottom piece of the metal ring puzzle and look for any holes where you can disconnect the two pieces. Easier puzzles may be solved by simply spinning the bottom piece of the metal ring puzzle as you maneuver that piece up the second piece.
• Try maneuvering the bottom piece of the metal ring puzzle over the top piece. In other words, you may actually have to flip the bottom piece over the top one before you are able to disconnect the two pieces of the metal ring puzzle.
• Attempt to slide one part of the puzzle through a hole in the other piece of the puzzle. All metal ring puzzles have openings where the pieces connect, and some openings are larger than others. You may be able to glide one piece through that opening, thus allowing you to solve the the metal ring puzzle

• Someone gave my husband a couple of these puzzles. The first one we did, the Brain Teaser Puzzle was very easy. This one was a lot harder for how simple it looks. At least for me. It took me a week of fiddling with it occasionally to solve it, another hour after that to figure out the solve

• This metal puzzle is amazing! It took me 4 hours to solve, and for the first hour, I couldn't even *IMAGINE* how the thing came apart! You'll want to solve it more than once, as you will likely forget some of the steps in the long sequence of moves required for total disassembly. Of course, that assumes you've completed the challenge of putting the thing back together after you first solve it =).

• This is an excellent puzzle. It seems impossible when you look at these seemingly interlocked iron rings, but that's what makes it great. If you work at it enough, and use your eyes and good mind, you will get it. Even after getting it, it's still amazing when you look at it and consider its craftsmanship and that it even works at all.

• As of this typing, I own nine Hanayama puzzles. Like almost all of the Hanayama puzzles this is built out of quality material and puts up with lots of abuse and frustration from friends and family. I believe this puzzle, the Devil, is one of the funner puzzles.

• This is a good metal puzzle because even though you may have solved it once, if you set it down and come back to it later, it is difficult to remember how you did it last time. It is much easier to put back together than take apart. Sometimes I will take it apart for a friend, watch them put back together quite easily, and then laugh at their frustration as they try to tak it back apart.

• This is the hardest puzzle in the Cast series. Just three sturdy solid metal pieces. It is very, very difficult to keep track of the pieces as they twist around.
