How to Set Up Home Video Lighting:

• The proper home video lighting will vastly improve the quality of video that any camcorder records. Light is essential to gathering the information the camcorder needs to record images without color loss or a grainy quality. Improving home video lighting does not require fancy equipment or a great deal of planning. Simply remembering a few home video lighting principles will instantly result in better video
• Open curtains and shades to allow as much natural light as possible into the room. Turn on ceiling lights and lamps, even during the daytime. The general rule for home video lighting is that it is better to have too much light than not enough
• Switch off all fluorescent lights. These lights give people a greenish appearance and the settings on most camcorders to prevent this will distort other colors and reduce overall video quality
• Position the subjects so that the brightest light sources, such as a large bay window, will be behind the camcorder or at least to one side
• Set up lights on each side of the camcorder if possible. If taping subjects with a wall behind, a small light between their backs and the wall will create depth between the subjects and background. This works best with stronger lights from each side and a weaker light on the floor near the wall, which helps diffuse shadows and create the feeling of space
• Mount a small battery-operated light in the camcorder's shoe (the fitting on top of the camcorder to hold lights or microphones) to illuminate subjects' faces in a low-light situation of interview-style video, such as speaking with guests at a wedding reception or large party

• Incredibly lightweight. Nice even projection. Perfect for backfill on subjects next to natural window light. Wonderful for using in indirect daylight to make faces pop and even better at twilight on city streets. And, of course, a nice solution for nighttime/indoor shooting on subjects close to camera.

• I use this an on on camera light, and also as a hair light, side fill, accent light or anything else I might need. Works very well with the new DSLRs when shooting video and the daylight color looks good (even if it's not 100% 5600k). The included filters work well too. Use the higher end batteries (see the instructions... I'm not here to plug a battery!) and you'll run all day long on one set! It's light, but not flimsy... and the dimmer knob seems like it will hold up fairly well. I didn't order the DV camera battery back for it, but that may be my next purchase. Litepanels should make a small zipper pouch for this thing, though. Love this light!

• I was introduced to this lovely little light at a recent shoot, and it basically saved the quality of the footage. We were shooting people dancing inside a dark ballroom, where you want to be able to see people's faces, but not shower the entire dance floor with light. This little light was perfect. It provides a very even light, and the dimmer and the gels makes it incredibly adjustable.

• 2 of these LED lights provide incredible light. They are so small I can pack them easily along with tons of other equipment in a carry-on when I fly overseas. I do not use them on camera, but on two small Gorillapods. They come with a small set of filters, which is nice, but be warned, there is no carrying case or bag--which is strange and unnerving considering the price of each. Be sure to find some way to pad and carry these, as they are very fragile. But if you can find a safe way to transport them, they are worth the money.

• This is a great little light, it does its purposed job but it does fell cheaper once you grab it in your hands, it helps with the weight because its so light, I think the 4 batteries you need weight more. Over all a great addition to the camera bag.

• I was somewhat skeptical of buying this light with the mixed reviews about its brightness. I find that it works as advertised and for the price range it is a very good deal. It provides enough light to improve the picture quality indoors, and makes the video crisp. The problem I see with the light is that there is no way to tone it done and at near objects it is very bright

• Easily attaches to the tripod mount thingy. It has several adjustments so you can position it out of the way of your lcd screen and at several different angles related to your camera. Surprisingly bright light for its small size.
