DIY Laptop Cooling Pad:
- Cut an acrylic sheet according to the size of your entire laptop's surface using a coping saw. Cut a hole in your acrylic to mark the spot that will be placed directly under your computer fan. The hole must be large enough for the extra fan. Cut more holes if you intend to use multiple fans and see to it that the hole fits your fan's size.
- Twist the ends of your USB cable's connector and make sure that the end that remains intact holds the standard connector plug which connects your laptop's port. There should be a total of four wires within your cable--black, white, green and red. Disregard the green and white cables
- Connect your cable's black and red wires to the fan's wires of the same color. See to it that the wires are touching each other while you secure them together using your electrical tape
- Mount your fan inside the hole in your acrylic. Turn the fan in the same direction as the fan within your laptop, and attach it to your acrylic using glue
- Glue your felt circles to the acrylic's edges on the underside. This will give your cooling pad extra clearance will keep your acrylic from scuffing
- Lay your laptop on your cooling pad and make sure your fans line up on both. Plug your pad into one of the USB ports in your laptop to start up the fan
