How to Extend Iphone 3g Battery Life
- Turn off wifi. I have noticed that turning off the wifi has made a very noticeable difference in my battery life. I only turn it on when I need a wifi signal for web browsing or quick email. If you are not going to be using it then turn it off. Go to settings/wifi/ and then toggle it off.
- Turn off 3g. I know thats the point of the phone but again if you are not going to be using it, why have it suck battery life. I disable my 3g until I have a need for the higher speed. Go to settings/general/network and toggle off 3g. Its only necessary if you need fast data downloads so if you do not need that feature for a while than switch it off and save some battery.
- Set push settings to manual or to fetch data at higher intervals. This feature allows your email to be updated automatically as your email server receives it. Go to settings/fetch new data/ and switch off push and set your fetch to every thirty minutes or an hour or even manual so it will only check your email server when you choose to.

How to Replace the Battery in an iPhone 3G?
- Remove the SIM tray located on the top of the phone. The SIM tray is located between the hold button and the headphone jack and can be removed by using a paper clip or the SIM removal tool provided with the phone to poke the small eject button. The tray should pop out, allowing for its removal.
- Use a miniature Phillips-head screwdriver and remove the two screws on the bottom of the phone. The screws are located on either side of the connector slot. Be sure to place them somewhere safe as they are quite small and easy to lose.
- Gently pry open the back from the screen with a small flat-head screwdriver or a similar tool. The most effective place to pry is right where the first screw was removed.
- Disconnect the screen from the back by located the three connecting tabs. These tabs are labeled with the numbers 1, 2 and 3. They should be pried loose in numerical order, starting with number 1, using the flat-head screwdriver or similar tool. Use the utmost caution when removing these tabs so as not to damage them in any way.
- Remove the cables labeled 4, 5 and 6 located on the back of the phone, once again in numerical order, and locate and remove the seven screws keeping the motherboard in place. One of the seven screws is hidden under a label towards the bottom of the phone and can be removed with a Phillips-head screwdriver. This should be the first screw to remove.
- Carefully remove the motherboard to gain access to the battery by disconnecting the small strip attaching it to the rest of the phone. There should be a tab at the top of the battery; this is where you should cautiously pry the battery with the flat-head screwdriver and remove it from the phone.
- Take the new battery and place it where the old one used to be. Once the battery is secure, reassemble the phone.
