How to Install a Graphics Card Fan:

- Unplug the power cable from the back of the computer. Remove the screw that holds the graphics card in place in the computer with the Phillips screwdriver. Unplug any extra internal power cables leading to the card
- Unlatch any plastic bits that hold the card in place and pull the card firmly out of the card slot
- Set the card down on a flat work surface. If there are any screws holding the fan and heat sink assembly in place on the top of the card, remove them with the Phillips screwdriver
- Flip the card over and locate the rubber nubs that hold the heat sink and fan assembly in place. Use the needle-nosed pliers to grab and rotate the rubber nubs until they can be poked back through the video card
- Flip the card back over. Unplug the power cable connecting the fan to the graphics card. Pull the heat sink and fan assembly off the graphics card, revealing the graphics processor chip. Set the old heat sink and fan assembly aside
- Open the package for the new heat sink and fan assembly. Apply a small drop of thermal compound onto the graphics processor chip on the graphics card
- Place the heat sink and fan assembly on the graphics processor chip, lining up the rubber nubs with the holes in the graphics card. Press down firmly to seat the assembly
- Flip the graphics card over and use the needle-nosed pliers to twist the rubber nubs until they lock the heat sink and fan assembly into place
- Turn the card back over and replace the screws removed in step 3, if applicable. Plug the cable leading off the fan into the power plug on the graphics card
- Replace the card in the slot in the computer and fasten into place with the screw removed in step 1. Plug in any extra internal power cables that the graphics card requires
- Plug the power cable back into the back of the computer. Turn the computer on and watch the fan on the graphics card to see if it is spinning. If the fan is spinning, this indicates a successful installation of the graphics card fan
