• I haven't used this charger in the dark so I can't comment whether the blue light is annoying or not. I am using this charger at work so it's been plugged in under my desk. The fact that you can only use the cable included to sync or transfer data is actually a plus for me since we're not allowed to connected personal devices to our work computers. It's much easier to plug it into my keyboard than to constantly unplug it from the strip on the floor. If someone asks me why I have my iPhone (3GS) connected to my computer I can honestly tell them it's just charging and no data can be transferred. It hasn't come apart and continues to work just fine after a few months of occasional use.

• For a fraction of the price that Apple charges you can have a replacement dock. We all know they are made like crap and will break without much prompting but you can not beat this price. I looked online and at the Apple store and it was more than twice (almost three times) the price once you factor in the shipping.
  It seems like this replacement has lasted as long as the original.
