How to Install a Hand Grip Battery?

• Professional accessories, including a battery grip, are available for the camera. This grip adds an extra shutter-release button, as well as storage for additional batteries, prolonging the shooting time available.

Instructions:

• Turn the camera over to reveal the battery cover. Use your thumbnail to open the battery door. Hold the orange battery latch back using your thumb, then turn the camera over to drop the battery out of the camera.
• Locate the hinge on the battery door. Pull the battery door toward the sides of the camera, at a slight angle, to break it free from the body. The battery door then clicks onto the body of the battery pack, at the vertical section that goes inside the camera.
• Place the battery grip into the battery compartment of the camera until the tripod mount screw on the battery grip contacts the threaded hole on the base of the camera. Locate the knurled knob on the front of the battery grip. Turn it to the right to thread the battery grip into the tripod mount on the camera to lock it in place.
• Turn on the camera to verify the battery grip is working correctly.

• The battery grip matched well with the D50 and worked as advertised. No problems setting it up or operating it. Handles wells and it does not feel as if it is going fall out of your hand, and it looks good attached to the D50 as well. It is also cost less than the Nikon's, and basically works for less. At this point, I have got to give a five.

• Many will tell you that the best accessory you can buy for your camera is a flash while some would say a remote. When it comes to battery grips, questions such as "would I really need the comfort to shoot in portrait for macro photography?" would come to mind. Often times, it's what deters us from buying a grip... the uncertainty of whether we will need it or not. Not sure which specific field in photography I'm getting myself into, I was hesitant. But after going to Hawaii for my honeymoon, it turns out that shooting comfortably in portrait for any type of photography was very important. And this vertical battery grip just meet all my needs, very great choice.

• The grip offers primarily power management advantages along with improved camera handling options at the cost of some weight and bulk. With two of the standard rechargeable batteries in the grip, recycle times for the flash are noticeably quicker. It also adds the option of accepting AA batteries in a pinch. I would recommend this grip to a friend.

• It's a sturdy grip for me. I don't have any flex issues whatsoever. Having two batteries in the grip allows over 1000 shots before a recharge is necessary. When I go on trips, I always bring a battery charger with me, but I have literally NEVER needed to take it out of the suitcase, no matter how much shooting I do.

• The battery grip, from an ergonomics standpoint, is fantastic. It allows me to hold the camera with my entire hand versus with just a few fingers. Of course, it holds 2 batteries and allows you to shoot longer plus allows you to insert a battery magazine of 6 AA batteries.
  It's worth getting. I can't speak to the fact that its weather sealed or anything like that - but from an ergonomics standpoint it's worth getting.

• I'm tired of every time I buy a new Nikon camera, I have to pay their outrageous prices for new accessories, especially since it would not take much effort on the engineer’s part to make them compatible!!!!! It's just another way to make money and it's a rip-off!!! Do yourself a favor and buy this battery grip over the Nikon Brand.......
