About USB Plugs:

• Standard USB Plugs and Receptacles: The plugs and receptacles have 4-contacts and are rectangular in shape with the contact opening of a Type A plug or receptacle measuring approximately 13.1(W) x 5.5(H) mm. The contact opening on standard Type B USB plugs and receptacles measures approximately 5.6(W) x 3.2(H)mm.
• Mini-USB Plugs and Receptacles: Mini-USB plugs, receptacles and cables were primarily introduced for USB OTG (Universal Serial Bus On The Go) devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, digital cameras etc. The USB OTG specification allows a single port to act as either a host or a device - chosen by which end of the cable plugs into the socket on the unit. After the cable is connected and the units are synchronised, the units may even swap ends under program control. This ability targets units such as PDAs where the USB link might connect to a PC's host port with the PDA as a device or alternatively connect the PDA as a host  to a keyboard.
• Two small form factor plugs have been defined (Mini-A and Mini-B) along with a universal receptacle (Mini-AB) that accepts either a Mini-A plug or a Mini-B plug. . Mini-A, Mini-B, and Mini-AB connectors are identified easily by color. The specification nominates that the insulator plastic inside Mini-A plugs and receptacles is always white. In Mini-B connectors it's always black, and in Mini-AB receptacles it's always coloured grey. The plugs and receptacles have 5 contacts with contacts 4 & 5 joined together inside the Mini-A plug. Mini-USB plugs and receptacles are rectangular in shape, with the contact opening measuring approximately 6.8(W) x 3.1(H) mm

Instructions for Installing the USB to Parallel Adapter

• Windows XP/VISTA (do not install the CD): Plug the cable into the USB port on your computer. A prompt that says "Found New Hardware" will appear. Windows will then install the USB printing support driver. You do not need to install the driver from the CD. Plug the cable into the printer. If your printer is already installed, click on Start, then Printers & Faxes. Right click on the printer you are connecting to and click on Properties. Click on the Ports tab and check the 'Virtual printer port for USB' port. Click OK/. You should now be able to print.
• Windows 2000/ME (do not install the CD): Follow steps 1 to 3 under Windows XP.  If your printer is already installed, click on Start, Settings, then Printers. Right click on the printer you are connecting to and click on Properties. Click on the Ports tab check the 'Virtual printer port for USB' port. Click OK. You should now be able to print
• Windows 98SE: Plug the cable into the USB port on your computer. The "Add New Hardware Wizard" will appear. Click Next. Insert the CD into the CD drive on your computer. Click "Search for the best driver for your device" and check the "Search removable media" box. Windows will find the driver. Click Next. When Windows has finished installing the driver, click Finish. Plug the cable into the printer. If your printer is already installed, click on Start, Settings, then Printers. Right click on the printer you are connecting to and click on Properties. Click on the Ports tab check the "Virtual printer port for USB" port. Click OK. You should now be able to print

• Excellent buying experience. They had one of the best prices posted on the net for the USB 2.0 to parallel printer converter adapter. When placing the order online it informed me that it would be back ordered, so I called them to get the possible shipping date. The agent was excellent, I called him often, the first time I got his voice mail which informed me of his days and hours, however he returned my call promptly and he always answered when he was working. The USB adapter arrived in perfect condition. They need to expand into a less specialized field; we need more internet stores like this.
