How to Disable a USB Touchpad:

A USB touchpad is an external device that connects to a computer USB port. The touchpad mimics the behavior of built-in laptop trackpads. The external touchpad has a large touch-sensitive surface that allows the on-screen cursor to be controlled by touching the pad. The touchpad can be used as an alternative to a standard external computer mouse. Some touchpads are specially designed for specific uses such as a digital numeric keypad. When not in use or to free up a USB port, the touchpad can be disabled.

• Locate the "power" or "connection" switch on the USB touchpad device. Depending on the design of the touchpad, the switch may be on the sides or it may be on the underside of the device. Move the switch to the off position, or if it is a push button, push it to turn the touchpad off. If there appears to be no switch, proceed to Step 2.
• Trace the USB cable coming out of the touchpad to the USB port it is connected to on the computer.
• Grasp the end of the USB cable closest to the USB port on the computer and gently pull the connection out straight away from the port. This will disengage the touchpad from the computer and effectively disable it.

Tips and Warning:

• Disconnect the USB connection when it's not in use if the touchpad uses its own battery power to conserve battery life.

• This keyboard/trackpad has excellent range and is pretty intuitive as well. Today I plugged the USB receiver into my PS3 and happily discovered that they keyboard works with my PS3! I bought this for my HTPC but I will definitely be using it for the PS3 now as well! I'm very satisfied with this purchase!

• Using this USB Computer Touchpad with an Asus NetBook hooked to a TV. This device is lightweight and compact, and works just fine. Its oddities have been addressed in other reviews, I find none to be very bothersome. I wish I could adjust the trackpad motion rate independent of the trackpad in the NetBook, but I believe that is a limitation of the Microsoft-provided drivers.

• While the Handheld USB Ke may have some eccentricities to it, this little device works really well as an all-in-one controller for a multimedia computer connected to a large-screen TV. Range is more than adequate. The touch pad is responsive and the keyboard is fine for the limited input required for finding the show you want on Hulu. It is flimsy, but that light-as-a-feather aspect of the product actually makes it easy to use. It is not perfect but, kept within its intended use, this is a terrific little remote.

• I'm writing my review with the USB Mini Touchpad. It works awesome!! I have my laptop hooked to my tv and tucked away out of sight in a drawer. I can sit on my couch and type away on my tv. Works great if you're a texter. I don't know why some reviewers say it has to be tethered. Just plug the adaptor into the usb and you're good to go. Range is great. Only negative I've noticed is that the mousepad doesn't seem to scroll on the edges.
