How to Care for Hemp Clothing:
Hemp is an environmentally friendly, versatile fabric that can take lots of wear. Hemp textiles naturally become softer with washing, are lightweight and come in a huge variety of clothing items and accessories. Hemp clothing generally costs more that other fabrics; however, take into consideration that it will last considerably longer than other clothing materials, particulaly with the right care
•l Look at the instructions provided on the product label first. Follow any directions listed
•l Test for color fastness first if your hemp is dyed. Turn garments inside out before washing
•l Put hemp clothing in the washing machine on the gentle cycle. Use mild laundry detergents. Note that you may not need to use as much detergent as you normally do for other fabrics, as hemp cleans easily. Do not use bleach or detergents with Optical Brightening Agents, as they will harm your fabric
•l Dry on a clothes line or clothing rack, or put in the dryer and set on the lowest heat setting (hemp fabrics typically dry quickly). Take out of the dryer as soon as the garments are dry. It is not usually recommended to dry hemp linens in the dryer, but you can put them in the dryer until slightly damp, then hang or dry flat to complete drying
•l Iron, if desired, on the lowest setting. Turn clothing inside out or use an ironing sheet so that you do not scorch the garment
