How to Replace a Battery in a Men's Wristwatch:
If you have recently developed a tendency for tardiness, showing up late for important meetings or dates, perhaps it's time to check the battery in your wristwatch. Whether your watch has been steadily losing accuracy or has stopped completely, replacing the battery is a relatively cheap and easy process. Most types of replacement batteries can be purchased at any department store, while the actual task of removing the old battery and switching it with the new one can be accomplished with relative ease in under ten minutes
Instructions- Lay the wristwatch face down on the cloth. This will help avoid scratching the surface. Examine the back of the watch. Most modern wristwatches will have a snap-on back. Look for a small groove between the casing of the watch and the back plate
- Place the head of a small screwdriver into the groove. If you do not have a screwdriver that is small enough, you may use the edge of sharp knife. Gently work the edge or tip around the groove and give it a slight twist. The back of the watch should pop off easily. If your watch is waterproof, try not to damage any rubber rings that are located between the back plate and the body of the wristwatch
- Examine which type of clip is holding the battery in place. Again, most watches will have either a spring or permanent clip. If your watch has one of these clips, gently lift the clip with your tweezers, just enough to remove the battery with your fingertips. If the clip is screwed into place, you will have to use your small screwdriver to remove the screws
- Note the position of the old battery so that you can correctly place the new battery
- Slip the new battery into place using your fingertips, holding the clip with the tweezers if necessary
- Check to make sure that the rubber ring is properly lined up with the casing and then snap the back plate of the wristwatch into place. The plate should snap on with a moderate amount pressure, using your thumbs and forefingers
- Set your watch to the correct time and determine if it is working correctly. If not, you may need to remove the back to check if you correctly placed the battery, or you may need to take the watch to a service technician
How to Adapt Watch Bands for Large Wrists:
Most watches are created with an average wrist size in mind. For women, that means most metal watches are approximately six inches long and for men they are six and a half inches long. Strap-style bands, weather leather or rubber, tend to run longer with more possibility for adjustment for larger wrists. Stretchable watchbands with elastic allow for a custom fit but may pinch on larger than average wrists. If you are having trouble finding a watchband that fits your larger than average wrist, look for extra long strap bands or order extra links for your watch
Instructions- Buy a watch with a larger than average face. The watch can have a metal band or a strap-style band. While you can choose the face style that suits your interest the most, larger faces will look better on a larger wrist, and some longer bands don't fit well with small watch faces. A case that is 35 to 40 millimeters long or larger is a good choice
- Purchase an extra-long strap-style band if the watch you purchased does not have a metal band. Jewelery shops and online sites that specialize in watches and watch accessories should carry a selection of long watch bands. To know which size strap to purchase, wrap a piece of string around your wrist. Measure the length of the string. Subtract the length of the watch case from your measurement. Use the resulting measurement as a guide to buying a new watch strap. Any jeweler can swap out the new strap for the old
